A Toys Orchestra BIOGRAPHY

...A Toys Orchestra formed in the summer of '98, and in June 2001 they released their first album called "JOB" (Fridge).
In 2003 they took part in and won MusicalBox notturno musicale, a festival organised by the infamous Frequenze Disturbate based in Urbino, where attentive industry people quickly took notice of them.  In the fall of 2003, the band left Fridge and signed on with Urtovox, and started working on their second album, Cuckoo Boohoo which was released by Urtovox in mid-October 2004.  IT was unanimously acclaimed one of the loveliest records of 2005/2006 and got rave review thanks in part to the much talked about video for "PETER PAN SYNDROME," which was written and directed by Fabio Luongo and was not only aired on all TV stations, but was also awarded two prestigious Fandango prizes including:
- Best Original Video ((premio speciale Musica! di Repubblica)
- Best Photography (premio Fandango: "Video Clipped the radio star)
Furthermore, the video was included in Musica di Repubblica's top 10 videos of 2004.  In 2005, it was awarded with the MEI clip estate 2005 award, which was presented to them at the acclaimed Capalbo film festival.  It was also selected at the International Exhibit of short film in Montecatini as well as at the O’CURT Short Film Exhibit, organised by the media library of S.Sofia di Napoli.
A series of solid reviews, interviews and TV and radio airings supported by an incessant live tour in the best rock venues and Italian festivals (over 160 gigs in 2005/2006) have rendered ...A Toys Orchestra an indisputable ray of light on the current Italian music scene
and ready to take on the European and International markets.
"Technicolor Dreams," which was released on 19/03/2007, saw the band collaborate with DUSTIN O'HALLORAN (DEVICS) who was the artistic director.  This marks the young band's  further  growth and which in turn,  lead to their winning the PIMI Award (Premio PIMI) for the best album of 2007, presented to them in Faenza at the Independent labels meeting. This came as no surprise considering the general consensus among journalists who asserted the band's talent by writing ample articles in both major national papers as well as in non-specialised newspapers and magazines.
In September 2007, the band received an impressive invitation to take part in the most important live event organised by RAI RADIO 1 in collaboration with "powder on the words," on all RAI channels.  Their clip also aired on specialised channels and was thus a sort o preview for all European and English distribution and promotion (by CARGO) of the album.  It, too, was welcomed with the same enthusiasm on the part of journalists as their previous album. Within a few weeks, two of the songs off Technicolor dreams were chosen as single of the week on BBC radio 2 in the UK.
They've since played many live shows (over 150 throughout 2007 and 2008, including a 15-gig European gig), with crowds growing bigger every time, thanks to word of mouth and major music social networks.
It was therefore not by chance that Afterhours wanted to band to take part in a project called "Il paese è reale," with their unreleased track "What You Said."  This collaboration marked the band's return to Rai studios to particapte in a concert along with other musicians including Beatrice Antolini (who is on the same label a they are), and other prominent musicians such as Paolo Benvegnù and Roberto Angelini.
Also noteworthy is the fact that three of the tracks off Tecnicolor Dreams were included in the soundtrack for Jess Manafort's film called "The Beautiful Ordinary" (in theatres across the US in 2008).  Two other tracks were also selected for an Italian TV show called "I Liceali," which was produced and aired on RTI//Channel 5. Finally, "Invisible" (another track) was included in Edoardo Leo's film debut "18 anni dopo," soon to be released.

Il primo nucleo degli …A Toys Orchestra nasce nell'estate del 1998;nel giugno del 2001 pubblicano il loro primo album dal titolo “JOB” (Fridge).
Nel 2003 partecipano e vincono MusicalBox-notturno musicale, festival ospitato nell'ambito della famosa rassegna Frequenze Disturbate di Urbino, venendo subito notati dai più attenti e lungimiranti addetti ai lavori in campo musicale. Nell'autunno del 2003 la band lascia la Fridge per passare alla Urtovox, iniziando a lavorare concretamente all’album successivo dal titolo Cuckoo Boohoo che viene pubblicato da Urtovox a metà Ottobre del 2004 e viene acclamato all’unanimità come uno dei dischi più belli della stagione 2005/2006 ottenendo una assai lusinghiera rassegna stampa grazie anche al fortunato clip relativo al brano “PETER PAN SYNDROME” ,scritto e diretto da Fabio Luongo, che oltre a rientrare nella programmazione di Tutte le emittenti televisive viene selezionato dalla giuria del prestigioso Premio Fandango aggiudicandosi ben due premi come:
-Miglior videoclip originale (premio speciale Musica! di Repubblica)
-Migliore fotografia (premio Fandango: "Video Clipped the radio star)
Inoltre II clip viene inserito tra i primi 10 clip del 2004 nella classifica di fine anno stilata da Musica di Repubblica , vince il premio MEI clip estate 2005 assegnato nell’ambito del prestigioso Capalbio film festival, e viene selezionato alla Mostra internazionale di cortometraggio di Montecatini ed alla rassegna di cortometraggi O’CURT indetta dalla mediateca di S.Sofia di Napoli.
Una fitta serie di recensioni, interviste, passaggi televisivi e radiofonici sostenuta da una incessante e qualificata attività concertistica nei migliori rock club e festival italiani (oltre 160 date nella stagione 2005/2006) fanno degli …A Toys Orchestra una speranza indiscussa dell’attuale panorama musicale italiano ,pronti a sostenere il confronto con il mercato europeo ed internazionale.
Il nuovo album in uscita il 19/03/2007 dal titolo “Technicolor Dreams”, realizzato in collaborazione con DUSTIN O’HALLORAN (DEVICS) alla produzione artistica rappresenta un ulteriore crescita per la giovane band campana che li porta a vincere il premio PIMI assegnato a Faenza in occasione del meeting degli indipendenti  quale migliore album del 2007 a seguito anche dell’unanime accoglienza da parte di tutta la stampa che non si risparmia a tesserne le lodi con ampi articoli anche sui maggiori quotidiani nazionali e sulla stampa non speciaiizzata.
Nel settembre del 2007 la band riceve il prestigioso invito a partecipare al più grosso evento live organizzato da RAI RADIO 1 che insieme alla programmazione del singolo “powder on the words” su tutte reti RAI ed alla programmazione del clip ad esso dedicato sulle emittenti specializzate, anticipa la distribuzione e la promozione europea ed inglese (by CARGO) dell’album,accolto con il medesimo entusiasmo dalla stampa estera al punto che ben due brani tratti da technicolor dreams vengono selezionati a distanza di poche settimane come singoli della settimana sulla BBC radio 2 in UK.
Tantissimi i loro live (oltre 150 nell’arco del 2007 e 2008 che sfociano in un tour europeo di ben 15 date) sempre più affollati da un pubblico adorante ed appassionato destinato a crescere concerto dopo concerto grazie ad un passaparola costante supportato dai principali social network musicali.
Non è quindi un caso che gli Afterhours vogliano che la band partecipi al progetto/compilation “Il Paese è Reale” con il brano inedito “What You said”, che porterà i toys nuovamente negli studi rai per un concerto che li vedrà insieme agli afterhours ,alla collega d’etichetta Beatrice Antolini ed ad altri illustri musicisti quali Paolo Benvegnù e Roberto Angelini nuovamente sul palco degli studi rai di via Asiago Roma.
Degno di nota l’inserimento di ben tre brani tratti da “Technicolor Dreams” nella colonna sonora del nuovo film di Jess Manafort dal titolo “The Beautiful Ordinary” uscito in tutte le sale cinematografiche americane nel 2008 ,di altri due brani nella fiction televisiva “I Liceali” prodotta e trasmessa da RTI//Canale 5 in prima serata nel novembre di quest’anno e di un ulteriore brano (invisibile) nel film d’esordio di Edoardo Leo “18 anni dopo” di  prossima distribuzione cinematografica.
